Aesthetics

"A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety." ~ Ansel Adams

Framing

Positioning

"Centered"

"Third Line"

After taking some shots of my dog with one of her being centered in the photo and the other one of her positioned on one side of the photo, I learned a couple things.  I learned that by taking a picture of her positioned center in the picture, she is the main focus and everything is concentrated on her.  With the "third line" photo, I found that she is still the main concentration in the photo, but their are also other features in the photo that make it more unique.  My favorite photo I took of her was the one of her centered in the photograph.

Different Lighting

The three different lighting setting that I used in this photo set was natural light and no flash for the first photo, natural light with flash in the second photo, and candle light for the last three photos. The photo that I personally like the most is the second, because I liked the way the color of the background looked behind the roses with the flash giving it a subtle shadow in the background.  I also thought the candle light pictures were kind of cool, because it made everything a red-ish color and romanticized the subject.  It was an effect that I did not expect.

The Super Gun - Photographs

The Super Gun

#1. This was my last and favorite photo I took of the Super Gun.  When taking this photo, I wanted to capture the velocity of the snow coming out of the gun and I felt this one did a good job of doing that.  The photo was taken closer to the snow gun than in other pictures.  I really liked the contrast that I achieved in taking this picture by using the flash. It made the background turn black and everything else pop out in the image.

#2. This was my second favorite picture that I took of the Super Gun.  I really liked this photograph, because it capture both the cloud of smoke and the mountains in the background.  This photograph was taken without flash and it made a big difference.  The snow gun doesn't contrast in this photograph like in the first one, but still looks clear and it is easy to see the great amount of snow that the snow gun is producing.  I feel like it could fit well as a narrative piece.
